    NatroVital Organic Yarrow - 100ml Alcohol-Free Tincture

    • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is one of the classic herbs of Western herbal medicine, with a long history of use for heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual cramping, wounds and feverish colds. Its strong astringent and styptic qualities made it particularly valued for helping to staunch bleeding, both internally where menstrual flow was excessive and externally when applied to cuts and wounds. Yarrow was also traditionally taken during colds and fevers to encourage sweating, helping the body move through the hot, achy and congested stages of an acute illness.

Yarrow also has a traditional role in digestion. Its naturally bitter taste helps stimulate appetite and digestive secretions, making it useful when digestion feels sluggish or food tends to sit heavily after eating. It has also been used where bloating, wind or digestive cramping are part of the picture.

Energetic qualities: In Western herbal tradition, Yarrow is considered cooling, drying, bitter and astringent. In practical terms, its cooling nature suits hot, feverish states; its drying and astringent qualities help explain its traditional use for excessive bleeding and weepy or irritated tissues; while its bitterness supports appetite and digestion. Yarrow is also aromatic, which contributes to its traditional use in colds and fevers where encouraging perspiration was desired.

NatroVital Yarrow delivers this traditional herb in a pure, alcohol-free liquid extract. Made from organically grown Yarrow, vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, it provides a concentrated herbal extract without alcohol, artificial ingredients or unnecessary additives.

      How NatroVital Yarrow is Made

We begin with organic Yarrow herb and use an alcohol extraction process to draw out its bitter, aromatic and astringent plant compounds. This allows us to capture a broader range of the herb's naturally occurring constituents than simply grinding the dried herb into a powder.

After extraction, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperatures. The concentrated herbal extract is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, producing a premium-quality alcohol-free liquid extract.

Yarrow has earned an important place in Western herbal medicine because it brings several traditional actions together in the one herb. It can encourage sluggish digestion, help settle digestive cramping and has traditionally been used for menstrual spasm and abdominal discomfort around the period.

Unlike tablets, capsules or powders containing bulk dried plant material, our liquid herbal extracts contain the compounds drawn from the herb during extraction. This provides a concentrated and easy-to-take form without synthetic binders, fillers, coatings or unnecessary additives.

Locally Made with Integrity: Every bottle of NatroVital Yarrow is proudly made here in Australia in small batches. As a small, independently owned business, we're committed to local production, herbal purity and creating practitioner-grade extracts with respect for traditional Western herbal medicine.

Read our Frequently Asked Questions for dosage information, common combinations and answers to the questions we're most often asked in clinic.

    • What is the recommended dosage for NatroVital Yarrow?
The daily adult dose is 5 mL, divided into two serves of 2.5 mL — one in the morning and one in the evening. One mL is approximately 20 drops. Add each dose to a small glass of water or juice, drink immediately, and swirl the glass to ensure any remaining liquid is also consumed. Dosages may vary depending on individual needs and practitioner guidance.
What We Often Combine with NatroVital Yarrow in Clinic

Yarrow can be combined with other NatroVital herbs and formulas depending on the area being supported:

      • When heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding is the main concern: Shepherd's Purse.
      • When period cramping is accompanied by a need for greater uterine tone: Raspberry Leaf.
      • For broader support when painful or uncomfortable periods are the main concern: Menstrual Harmony.
      • When bloating, wind or slow digestion are more prominent: Digestive Support.

These combinations reflect traditional herbal practice and practitioner experience and can be adjusted according to individual needs.

Why has Yarrow traditionally been used for heavy menstrual bleeding?

Yarrow has a long history of use in Western herbal medicine where menstrual flow is unusually heavy or prolonged. Its naturally astringent and styptic qualities were traditionally valued for helping tighten and tone tissues and reduce excessive bleeding.

This is one of Yarrow's most recognised traditional uses and is why it has often been included in herbal formulas where heavy menstrual flow occurs alongside cramping or lower abdominal discomfort.

Why was Yarrow traditionally used during colds and fevers?

Yarrow was traditionally taken as a warm herbal preparation during colds, flu and feverish illnesses because it encourages perspiration. Herbalists used this action when someone felt hot, achy, congested or was moving between chills and fever.

Rather than simply suppressing a feverish response, Yarrow was traditionally used to support the body's natural process of sweating and heat release during an acute illness.

Why has Yarrow traditionally been used on cuts and wounds?

Yarrow has a strong traditional reputation as a styptic herb, meaning it was used to help staunch bleeding. Fresh or prepared Yarrow was historically applied directly to cuts and wounds where its astringent qualities helped contract the tissues and reduce bleeding.

This external use is one of the oldest associations with Yarrow and reflects the same astringent properties behind its traditional use where excessive menstrual bleeding is present.

Are there any contraindications for using NatroVital Yarrow?

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is generally well tolerated when used within normal herbal dosages, but there are several situations where caution is appropriate.

Asteraceae family allergy: Avoid Yarrow if you have a known allergy to Yarrow or other members of the Asteraceae family, which includes plants such as chamomile, echinacea, calendula, ragweed and daisies. Allergic skin reactions have occasionally been reported.

Pregnancy: Yarrow is not recommended during pregnancy. It has a long traditional association with the menstrual cycle and there is insufficient safety information to support its use during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding: There is insufficient information regarding the use of concentrated Yarrow extracts while breastfeeding, so use is generally avoided unless professionally advised.
