    NatroVital Wild Yam - 100ml Alcohol-Free Tincture

    • Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) has a long history of use in Western herbal medicine for period pain, menstrual cramping and digestive spasms. It has traditionally been used when pain feels crampy, gripping or comes in waves, whether that is during a period or through the abdomen and bowel.

Its relaxing action on smooth muscle is what gives Wild Yam much of its traditional value. For women, this may mean helping ease the cramping and tightness that can come with painful periods. In the digestive system, it has traditionally been used when cramping or spasms cause gripping abdominal pain or discomfort.

Energetic qualities: Wild Yam is traditionally considered cooling, drying, bitter and relaxant. In everyday terms, it is a herb herbalists tend to think of when the body is holding on too tightly and needs help to relax.

NatroVital Wild Yam delivers this traditional root in a pure, alcohol-free liquid extract. Using Wild Yam root, vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, it provides a clean and convenient way to incorporate concentrated Wild Yam into your daily routine without alcohol, artificial ingredients or unnecessary additives.

How NatroVital Wild Yam is Made

We begin with Wild Yam root and use an alcohol extraction process to draw out its naturally occurring plant compounds, including its characteristic steroidal saponins and other constituents found within the root. This allows us to extract a broad spectrum of compounds from the herb rather than relying on powdered root or an isolated constituent.

After extraction, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperatures to help preserve the integrity of the herb's naturally occurring plant compounds. The concentrated extract is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, producing a premium-quality alcohol-free liquid extract.

Wild Yam has been valued for generations in Western herbal medicine, particularly where herbalists wanted to relax smooth muscle and ease gripping, spasmodic or cramping discomfort. Its traditional association with the menstrual and digestive systems gives Wild Yam a distinctive place amongst herbs used for muscular and abdominal tension.

Unlike tablets, capsules or powders containing bulk dried plant material, our liquid herbal extracts contain the compounds drawn from the herb during extraction. This provides a concentrated and easy-to-take form without synthetic binders, fillers, coatings or unnecessary additives.

Locally Made with Integrity: Every bottle of NatroVital Wild Yam is proudly made here in Australia in small batches. As a small, independently owned business, we’re committed to local production, herbal purity and creating practitioner-grade extracts made with genuine care and respect for traditional plant medicine.

â—„Are there any contraindications for using NatroVital Wild Yam?

Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) is generally considered well tolerated when used within normal herbal dosages. However, several precautions may be relevant when using concentrated extracts.

Pregnancy: Wild Yam has a traditional history of use in relation to the female reproductive system and is generally avoided during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed by a suitably qualified practitioner.

Hormone-sensitive conditions: Wild Yam contains steroidal saponins and diosgenin, and laboratory research has suggested possible hormone-related activity. Caution may therefore be appropriate in people with hormone-sensitive conditions such as certain breast, ovarian or uterine conditions.

Hormonal medications: Those using hormone replacement therapy, hormonal contraceptives or other hormone-based medications may wish to consider the potential for interaction when using concentrated Wild Yam extracts.
