• Codonopsis (Codonopsis pilosula), also known as Dang Shen, is a traditional Chinese herb used when a person feels tired, run down or depleted, particularly when their appetite has decreased or they are struggling to regain their strength. It has traditionally been used during periods of exhaustion, after illness, or when someone simply feels they have less energy and stamina than they normally would.

  In traditional Chinese medicine, Codonopsis is used to strengthen what is known as Spleen Qi. In practical terms, this traditional pattern often describes someone who tires easily, has little appetite, feels weak after illness or simply seems to have lost their usual strength.   How NatroVital Codonopsis is Made

  We begin with dried Codonopsis root and extract it rather than simply grinding the root into a powder. This allows the naturally occurring compounds held within the root to move into the liquid, including polysaccharides, saponins, polyacetylenes and other plant constituents that contribute to the character of the whole herb.

  Alcohol and water are used during extraction because different constituents within Codonopsis have different solubilities. Using both allows us to draw a broader range of compounds from the root than relying on water or alcohol alone.

  Once extraction is complete, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperature. The concentrated herbal extract is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, giving us the advantages of an alcohol extraction without alcohol remaining in the finished product.

  The daily adult dose is 5 mL, divided into two serves of 2.5 mL — one in the morning and one in the evening. One mL is approximately 20 drops. Add each dose to a small glass of water or juice, drink immediately, and swirl the glass to ensure any remaining liquid is also consumed. Dosages may vary depending on individual needs and practitioner guidance.
