  How NatroVital Cat’s Claw is Made

  We begin with Cat’s Claw and use an alcohol extraction process to draw out its broad range of naturally occurring plant compounds, including oxindole alkaloids, triterpenes, quinovic acid glycosides and polyphenols. Using a liquid extraction allows us to capture compounds from this tough, woody herb that would otherwise remain locked within the plant material.

  Once extraction is complete, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperatures. This allows us to produce a concentrated herbal extract while avoiding the prolonged high temperatures that can occur with conventional evaporation.

  The concentrated Cat’s Claw extract is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, leaving a completely alcohol-free finished product.

• ◄What is the recommended dosage for NatroVital Cat’s Claw?

  The daily adult dose is 7.5mL. This can be divided across the day, for example 2.5mL three times daily. One mL is approximately 20 drops. Add each dose to a small glass of water or juice, drink immediately, and swirl the glass to ensure any remaining liquid is also consumed. Dosages may vary depending on individual needs and practitioner guidance.

  Cat’s Claw can be combined with other NatroVital herbs depending on the area being supported:

  • For joint stiffness, tissue discomfort and inflammatory patterns: Turmeric.

  Cat’s Claw gets its name from the small curved thorns that grow along the climbing vine. These hook-shaped thorns allow the plant to attach itself to surrounding vegetation as it climbs through the forest canopy and closely resemble the curved claws of a cat. In Spanish-speaking regions of South America the herb is commonly known as uña de gato, which also means “cat’s claw”.

  Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is generally well tolerated when used within recommended herbal dosages. However, there are several situations where additional caution is appropriate.

  Immunosuppressive medications: Cat’s Claw may influence immune activity and may therefore be unsuitable alongside medicines specifically used to suppress the immune system, including medicines used following organ transplantation.

  Anticoagulant and antiplatelet medications: Cat’s Claw may influence platelet activity. Caution is appropriate when it is taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines.

  Blood-pressure medication: Cat’s Claw may influence blood pressure in some people. Those taking antihypertensive medication should monitor their response when introducing a concentrated Cat’s Claw extract.

  Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Cat’s Claw is not recommended during pregnancy. There is also insufficient safety information for concentrated Cat’s Claw extracts during breastfeeding.

  Surgery: Because of its potential influence on immune activity, blood pressure and platelet function, Cat’s Claw should generally be discontinued before planned surgery.
