  • NatroVital Butchers Broom

    NatroVital Wildcrafted Butcher’s Broom - 100ml Alcohol-Free Tincture

    • Butcher’s Broom (Ruscus aculeatus) is a traditional Western herb best known for its use where circulation through the veins has become sluggish, particularly in the legs. Herbalists have long used the root to support healthy venous circulation, vein tone and the return of blood from the lower legs.

This makes Butcher’s Broom particularly relevant when the legs feel heavy, tired or uncomfortable after long periods of standing or sitting. It has also traditionally been used for haemorrhoids, helping support the tone of the swollen veins and improve venous return from the area.

Energetic qualities: In Western herbal tradition, Butcher’s Broom is considered drying, astringent and moving. These qualities fit particularly well where there is sluggish circulation, tissue congestion or a tendency for fluid to accumulate in the lower legs.

NatroVital Butcher’s Broom is made from wildcrafted Butcher’s Broom root, harvested from plants growing naturally rather than commercially cultivated crops. We then produce a concentrated liquid herbal extract and remove the alcohol after extraction, giving you the benefits of a traditional liquid tincture in a completely alcohol-free finished product.

How NatroVital Butcher’s Broom is Made

We begin with wildcrafted Butcher’s Broom root and use an alcohol extraction process to draw out the naturally occurring compounds held within the plant, including the ruscogenins for which Butcher’s Broom is particularly well known.

Once extraction is complete, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperatures. The concentrated herbal extract is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, producing a premium-quality alcohol-free liquid extract.

This process allows us to work with the whole root and extract its naturally occurring range of plant compounds rather than relying on powdered herb or an isolated ingredient.

Unlike tablets and capsules containing bulk dried plant material, our liquid herbal extracts already contain the compounds drawn from the herb during extraction. This gives you a concentrated, easy-to-take form without synthetic binders, fillers, coatings or unnecessary additives.

Locally Made with Integrity: Every bottle of NatroVital Butcher’s Broom is proudly made here in Australia in small batches. As a small, independently owned business, we remain closely involved in the herbs we source, the way they are extracted and what goes into every finished bottle.

Read our Frequently Asked Questions for dosage information, common combinations and answers to the questions we're most often asked in clinic.

    • What is the recommended dosage for NatroVital Butcher’s Broom?
The daily adult dose is 5 mL, divided into two serves of 2.5 mL — one in the morning and one in the evening. One mL is approximately 20 drops. Add each dose to a small glass of water or juice, drink immediately, and swirl the glass to ensure any remaining liquid is also consumed. Dosages may vary depending on individual needs and practitioner guidance.
What We Often Combine with NatroVital Butcher’s Broom in Clinic

Butcher’s Broom can be combined with other NatroVital herbs depending on the area being supported:

      • When support for small blood vessels and capillaries is also required: Bilberry.
      • For heavier, tired or swollen legs where greater vein support is needed: we often combine Butcher’s Broom with Horse Chestnut for a more comprehensive approach to supporting venous circulation and vein tone.
      • When broader peripheral circulation support is required: Ginkgo Biloba.
      • When broader cardiovascular and circulatory support is required: Hawthorn Berry.

The most suitable combination depends on why Butcher’s Broom is being used and the type of circulatory support required.

Why is Butcher’s Broom so often used for leg circulation?

The veins in your legs have the difficult job of moving blood back upwards towards the heart against gravity. Normally, every time you walk or move your legs, the muscles contract and help squeeze blood through the veins. When you spend long periods sitting or standing with very little movement, this natural pumping action is reduced and blood can begin to pool in the lower legs, leaving them feeling heavy, tired, swollen or uncomfortable.

This is where Butcher’s Broom really stands out. Rather than simply encouraging more blood flow, it has traditionally been used to support the tone of the veins themselves, helping them move blood more effectively out of the lower legs and reducing the tendency for blood to pool. This makes it particularly useful for people whose legs become heavy, puffy, achy or tired as the day goes on.

What does wildcrafted Butcher’s Broom mean?

Wildcrafted means the Butcher’s Broom we use has been harvested from plants growing naturally in the wild rather than from a commercially cultivated crop.

For us, the quality of the starting herb matters. We want to begin with genuine medicinal plant material and then use our own extraction process to produce the concentrated liquid extract that goes into each bottle.
